Martyn is the
principal of
and
has had a wealth
of experience in organisations of all sizes and types :
Large Corporates : Local Authorities : HealthCare (National Health
Service) : Higher Education : Voluntary Sector : Small & Medium-sized
Enterprises
Not only has
he worked as a Senior Manager within organisations but also
as a consultant/advisor in a wide variety or roles - including training
and development, management development, major change initiatives
and the management of projects large and small.
Whilst Martyn
has a professional marketing background he has worked extensively
in the fields of human resource management, business strategy and
project management.
He has an excellent
and up-to-date knowledge of modern technologies and of the roles
that they can play in 21st century organisations facing the twin
challenges of increased change and the quest for greater efficiency
and effectiveness - better customer/ consumer focus.
During his time
as a Senior Manager in Finance and Banking in the mid-late '80s
and the early 1990s he managed/mentored a number of challenging
high-profile change management initiatives.
Upon gaining
his MBA through Henley Management College in the mid-90s he worked
as a Research and Change consultant with the College, handling a
number of large projects addressing the management of change in
large organisations. He wrote and published Case Studies on Organisational
Change, presenting a number of these at international conferences
in the USA and throughout Europe.
From 1996 -2000
as Director of the University of East London's Business Development
Centre, he managed over 15 separate projects ranging between £50k
and £1.4m. Amongst many change and change management projects he
pioneered the University's partnership in a major Senior Management
Development programme focusing on the Management of Change within
a large London Borough where he also introduced the first on-line
learning platform in a UK Local Authority. He also taught Change
and Change Management, Innovation, Marketing and Human Resource
Management to students and to professionals working in a variety
of organisations and sectors (including IPD, Institute of Management,
NHS, Local Authorities)
Martyn has
a particular interest in Knowledge Management and E-Learning, how
these can be applied within organisations to help achieve greater
overall efficiency and effectiveness, and in particular how they
can be used to provide better service to the customers/consumers
of those organisations. He has designed and built a number of knowledge
and e-learning platforms for businesses, educational institutions
and recently for a Health Authority.
Martyn now
works with University of Greenwich Business School where in addition
to part-time teaching (Strategy, Marketing and Knowledge Management
- KM) on the MBA for SMEs programme he also heads up the London
Knowledge Network (LKN) LKN is a not-for-profit collaborative
members' organisation focusing on the needs of organisations in
and around London, working together to ensure London acheives its
strategic aim of becoming a leading global centre in the 21st century
knowledge economies. He has organised many knowledge management
events, has chaired KM conferences, spoken at various KM events
globally over the last few years.
