AN INTRODUCTION TO PROJECT MANAGEMENT This is another highly practical workshop designed to show managers and key staff how Project Management can play an increasingly effective role in today's work environments. Where applicable (these days - often!) it can be orientated to show how project management can be particularly useful within major change initiatives. The workshop uses a specially designed Case Study - a "project within a project" - that encourages all delegates to look at the real-life application, as opposed to the theory, of the fundamentals of project management. From the start we take a "fun" approach to what, often, can be a somewhat daunting - even, given its jargon and own 'language', intimidating - subject, ensuring that all deliverables are carefully linked to organisational/departmental/unit work-flows and activities. Delegates seem to particularly appreciate this approach! They indicate that they have "seen the light" and can understand how the basics of project management can be taken forward and incorporated into future work practices. They start to see project management as a step towards better time management, greater efficiency and effectiveness. Without promoting any one system or approach, all the main elements and components of modern project management are covered in what delegates tell us is a highly practical, highly understandable journey through the project management domain. Jargon is kept to an absolute minimum and a work-book linked to the Case Study invites delegates to use that which they have learned back in the work-place. NOTE : This workshop can be very useful in organisations looking to encourage and establish - or expand - the use and application of the project management approach. It can also be linked to more advance, bespoke workshops that carry this learning forward, put it in the context of a particular organisational approach to project management.
